Surgery Update

I got my New Patient Info Pack in the mail today! YAY! 23 pages of the most intrusive and detailed medical information to fill out, wooo! It seems a little repetitive sometimes, but it's all for the cause.

Thank you Mom, for trying so hard to keep detailed medical information on our family members that have passed. Lord knows I'd never be able to fill out half the medical history pages without you!

Now I just have to go to my primary care physician (PCP) to get my official referral. Then I will get this sent back to Scottsdale Bariatric. Once they get it they'll start contacting my insurance to get approval. This part may take a little while.

Slow and steady wins the race!!

Revision

Ok it was a bit ambitious of me to try to do one new thing a week. My weeks are too busy to do one new thing that often. So I am revising my original resolution. It is now to do one new thing a month. By the end of the year I will have done 12 new things that I've never done before. These will be bigger more accomplished things though, since I have an entire month in which to do them :)

Some examples off my very long list are:
* sing karaoke
* go to the Phoenix zoo
* sign up for a community cleaning day
* volunteer at the library
* donate all my soda cans to the pet shelter (instead of forgetting all the time and never doing it)
* go camping w/Kristopher
* go to Mexico (not the scary parts)
* see the Casa Grande ruins
* go to a football game (professional)
* attend a really huge concert (probably Country Thunder!)
* see a solar eclipse
* make my bucket list (which is almost what this is!)

Loosing :)

My first week of Weight Watchers online is over! Honestly, I can't say I put much effort into it, but I still managed to loose 4 lbs somehow! That's not much, and I'm aware it could easily be water. I'm still excited about it though! Just knowing that I lost a few pounds made me make better food choices today :) Slowly but surely, I am making some progress. Thanks for all the support!

One Down...

Yay! I accomplished my first resolution this year! My house is officially un-decorated from Christmas by the second week of January! :) Wooo!

Happy New Year!

2009 came SO fast! Unfortunately, Kristopher had to work again, so Jennifer and I had our own party at my house. It was fun! I made the mistake of buying horns...Jennifer obviously shouldn't be allowed to have those. My ears are still ringing from the constant ear piercing wailing bellowing from her horn. It's so sad how old we're becoming. We didn't stay up super late like we used to, we skipped our movie marathon, and we didn't even eat all of our candy. :(
So my resolutions this year are as follows:
Short term-
*un-decorate from Christmas by the second weekend of January (less than 24 hours left to complete this!)
*completely clean my house (accomplished 1/10 thanks to Jennifer!)
Mid Term-
*Get into a routine schedule
*Get all my appointments scheduled for surgery
Long Term-
*Successfully complete surgery and all pre and post op diets
*Every week do one thing I've never done before-by the end of the year I'll have done 52 new things!
I feel these are reasonable and do-able resolutions :) Wish me luck! Here are pictures from New Years Eve :)

Time To Get Going!

Over 61% of Americans make New Year's resolutions to loose weight for the new year. I know I was one of those people for as long as I can remember. This year is different though! I am going to be given the tools needed to be successful. Because I know that this is going to take a while before I get approval for surgery, I figured I need to start now. I signed up for Weight Watchers online today. This is a small step, but it counts toward my medically supervised diet. Well, it does because I called my doctor and left a message for him (he's on vacation) telling him that I signed up and I would like that put on my record. Some insurances are requiring pre-op medically supervised diets for anywhere from one month all the way up to one year! Obviously I HOPE it's not going to be one year for me, but if it is...it is. So for now I'm estimating I'll be required to do a six month pre-op medically supervised diet. That's a nice round number right in the middle. So, if I'm using that as my time estimate, then I should be looking at a surgery date of around June or July! So I should be able to loose 50 lbs after I have the surgery in time for Christmas :) Plus I'll have lost weight from my 6 month supervised diet, I hope anyway.

So! Things are moving...slowly, but moving ;) I'm on the right track...
